2022 sacrashe

The sacrashe vineyard

This extraordinary vineyard is perched atop the Eastern ridge of the Vaca Mountain range in Rutherford. The extremely limiting volcanic tuff soils, high elevation, and unique aspect consistently yield intense earthy flavors and powerful yet supple tannin.

vintage notes

Ample winter rain, followed by temperate and dry conditions through March, gave us a good start to the vintage.  The spring and summer months were consistent and warm, resulting in small but healthy canopies and balanced vines. Labor Day came with a curveball from Mother Nature in the form of a prolonged heat wave that accelerated harvest at many of our vineyard sites, followed immediately by much cooler weather and a bit of rain. This refreshing slowdown allowed the remaining grapes to hang a bit longer, yielding beautifully balanced fruit and polished tannin. Overall ,the 2022 vintage is fresh with pure, concentrated flavors.

Tasting notes

The opaque purple color of our 2022 Sacrashe Cabernet Sauvignon hints at its depth of character. Deep, integrated, complex notes of black fruit, freshly tilled earth, and graphite dominate the aromatic profile. Blue and black fruit flavors are present on the palate, as well as notes of dusty earth and spice. Beautiful, polished tannins cascade into a silky, sweet midpalate with a seamless and voluptuous finish. Enjoy now and over the next 15-20 years.
